When talking about the greatest movie ever made…. people always seem to bring up Independence Day starring Will Smith.
I just want to know why everyone seems to love this movie. Personally, I have watched it 117 times and have every single line memorized… but I want to hear why others think it’s the greatest movie ever created.
Thank you.

Dude, personally i do not know what people you are talking to but the fact is “Independence Day” is not the greatest movie ever.
It is ranked #28 in the all time box office with $306,169,268.
Won 2 Oscars:Best Effects, Visual Effects & Best Sound
Compaired to the elite movies in the past,Independence Day does not qualify as the greatest movie ever.
Personally the film is a bit over rated and let’s compair it to other great films and see if it is worthy of being called “The Greatest Film Ever”.
Titanic is ranked #1 in the all time box office with $600,788,188. and has held on to that lead for 11 years.
    Won 11 Oscars:Best Art Direction,Best Cinematography,Best Costume Design,Best Director,Best Dramatic Score,Best Editing,Best Picture,Best Song,Best Sound,Best Sound Effects Editing,Best Visual Effects
    You do the math.

NOT the greatest movie ever made – NEVER heard it mentioned in even the top 100 movies ever made.
That being said, however, I enjoy the movie and have seen it probably 10 times.
Despite some of the worst performances from otherwise fine actors (Judd Hirsch, Jeff Goldblum, Randy Quaid), despite the formulaic script, wooden dialogue and schmaltzy emotionalism, it is fun, good explosions, features some good alien-azz kickin’, and has Will Smith’s good-humored, relaxed, relatable performance to anchor it and to keep it from completely falling off the table into oblivion.
    Fun movie? YES, definitely.
Good movie? Never, in a million years.
It’s partly fun because of how bad so much of it is.
    Nevertheless, I recommend it.

At the time it came out, i believe it had the best special effects on large scale with the cities being destroyed. When it came out i thought it was a great movie, but now when i see it come on, i dont bother to watch. I would say for the time it came out it was great but now a days i watched other movies than it.
Independence Day was the highest-grossing film of 1996.[1] In the United States, Independence Day earned $104.3 million in its first full week.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independenc…

I have a three words answer for why this is one of the best movies of all time. The answer is Bill Pullman’s performance as the President of The United States. One of the greatest movie speeches of all time if not the greatest. However, in all fairness…. This isn’t the best movie of all time, but it is probably in the top 25 or so. Off topic, but I think I would have voted for Bill Pullman for president this year, lol!

I’d have to disagree, though I like Indpendence Day, the greatest movie ever created is The Princess Bride.

  8. Jokeesmu Says:

um sorry to brake this to u …. but its so NOT the greatest movie ever made!

  9. PeteR Says:

It is the best movie ever the moment Will Smith hits the alien because he smells!
And when all the secret service shoot the alien through the glass.
And because it shows all countries coming together to save humanity.
Its just such a good movie.
