The movie had this teen who left the gate open and someone killed his love interest in the middle of the night and they blamed him. So to get him to talk and make it an open-close case the investigators used hypnotism to interrigate him and they burned alot of the evidence and claimed it went “missing”.

I think this is the one based on an actual case in which a girl is strangled to death in a shed or tent in the backyard during a sleepover after a party broke up. The police used hypnosis on the boy who doesn’t remember if he did it or not.
