What Does The Movie Theater Employee Do With The Clipboard And Light?

I’ve always been curious; what does the theater employee do who comes in usually halfway through the movie, or shortly before then, usually with a clipboard and light? Is he counting people against the tickets sold, or is he/she just checking for camcorders?

The light is to find people with camcorders that are screen ripping the movie.
The clipboard is for whacking the people with the camcorders in the back of the head for bringing them in.

  2. Breezy says:

Light is for the camcorders because the light will reflect back from the lens of the camcorder. . .
    I don’t know about the clipboard. . .

The light is for finding camcorders or people behaving poorly. They can locate the person and ask them to leave that way. As for the clipboard? Maybe to take notes?
