What Are Some Good Themes For A Home Movie?

My friend and I are planning to make a home movie over the summer. We have a professional canon movie camera and sony vegas pro 8 but we can’t use them for anything! We can spend up to $10-maybe $20(I know that’s cheap but were only 12 and 13). What are some good themes? Like what is a good story to make into a movie????? Thanks in advance for the help.

I think it’s nice to come up something character-driven film like “Lost In Translation”. If you watched the film it may seem trivial because with lesser dialogue but you need to come up a good character study to make it become a 3D character. don’t cling to one genre like comedy alone. Mix with drama, adventure, and comedy if you like. You don’t need a good punchline to make your viewers, say your friends and family, to laugh. Action alone tells a story already in the world of film storytelling.

I would suggest doing something like a comedy. Or you could mix it up. Have one part of the movie to be funny, one part be a drama, one part be a mystery, ect. If you have different themes, it will keep your future audience interested, and that’s what all good directors and script writers want. Also, you could re-enact movie that have already been created. Those are always fun to watch!

Make a movie about kids that do their homework, and chores, and are respectful of others, especially their elders.
