On Itunes What Is The Difference Between An Hd Movie And An Regular Movie?

I am think about buying the movie star trek on my apple tv and it says I have two options to chose from, the regular movie or the HD movie. What is the difference? Is the HD movie 1080p and the regular movie 480p.

   The HD movie is probably 720p
   The SD 480p or lower.

   Of course, HD movie is more fashion than normal movie and you can find it can’t not be outdated in a short time.
