Is The Movie Expelled A Perfect Example Of The Lies Behind Intelligent Design?

I accept Evolution as the scientific theory on the origins of species. If there was evidence to suggests otherwise and a new theory was established, I would accept that as well. I’m open to Intelligent Design, but this movie is marketed as the flagship of modern Intelligent Design and it’s filled with lies, quote-mining and tinfoil-hat conspiracy theories.
How am I to even consider Creationism as a valid hypothesis, when such propaganda is their message?

The intent of that movie was to expose widespread prejudice in the so called “scientific community” against people who question the validity of Darwinian teaching and attempt to make the case for intelligent design.
It wasn’t a movie made by people involved in the intelligent design movement designed to make the case for their ideas. Ben Stein comes from a political background and the movie was a political movie.

Expelled is a real piece of garbage. Probably the most biased, closed-minded movie ever constructed. I love how Ben Stein is whining that scientists have engaged in some kind of conspiracy because they won’t consider ID – but that is a lie!! The scientific community carefully considered ID but rejected it as not being based in scientific thought.
What’s really absurd is that so many people that back Ben Stein cite how brilliant he is, but somehow seem to forget that he is an Economist – not a Biologist, nor a Chemist, nor a Physicist. I am not trying to say that Ben Stein isn’t smart – he is a genius – but he lacks any practical experience and/or education in any of the disciplines that are applicable to the study of evolution.
Perhaps Ben Stein should be forced to take a class on mathematical logic, and then maybe he would understand what it means to assume what you are trying to prove.

“lies, quote-mining and tinfoil-hat conspiracy theories.” are all they have. If there were any facts they would surely be using them by now!
And I agree with you, if evidence came around to suggest anything other than evolution, I would change my views, but nothing comes close.
I think some of them must know that they are lying, surely so many people cannot be so idiotic?
@ Eye – there have been no theories that challenge evolution, ever.
Once again you must resort to lies….

OM NON needs the definition of ‘anecdotal’
1: based on or consisting of reports or observations of usually unscientific observers
2: of, relating to, or being the depiction of a scene suggesting a story

I guess you might have already, but watch thunderfoots videos, he actually shuts down all creationist nonsense real slow and easy, it is amusing to see, i recommend that creationist idiots watch as well, just type thunderfoot into youtube.

  6. Lionheart ® says:

There are no facts behind ID. They still believe that god planted the oil and coal we use for energy. They believe that they will be raptured before those items are depleted. They believe that dinosaur bones were planted to test their faith. They are ridiculous.

  7. heroic dose says:

the theory of design is not a theory at all it has no testable hypothesis, darwin proposed his theory in 1867 and nothing has been found since then to discredit it.

  8. Maurog II says:

I call Godwin’s Law on Expelled.
“Evolutionists” automatically win the argument, whatever it was supposed to be.

It’s an example of the rich taking advantage of the stupid public.

I just read the last National Geographic talking about what Darwin didn’t know and how modern gentics is finding that there is more and more complexity to DNA than they previously thought.
If you read that article, it is really proving that there is intelligent design. http://www.gnmagazine.org/booklets/EV/
Edit: Look, the graffe and the mouse share the same gene that makes a neck. What makes the one different from the other. Same gene. Exact same gene according to the geneticist.http://www.lcg.org/cgi-bin/tw/commentary…

  13. What I Say says:

Ha! You’re just like the other Darwinians who are angry that someone came up with a challenging theory to burst the bubble of certainty scientists have tried to fabricate about what they say they know. Darwin never said God doesn’t exist. Despite how atheists often do it, you can’t use Darwin’s theory of evolution as evidence that God doesn’t exist or that there was no Creator. Empiricism, logical thinking, and the scientific method are not universally paramount. They were made that way by human beings in the Western Hemisphere.

    Free thinker..uh huh…
“If there was evidence to suggests otherwise and a new theory was established, I would accept that as well.” — Too bad Evolution has yet to lend any credible evidence to show this is how species originated. All evidence for this is anecdotal, at best.
“I’m open to Intelligent Design…” — To me, this just screams that you’d believe aliens planted us here before you’d believe in any sort of “god” being.
And, no. I’m not an ID advocate in the sense you are thinking.
Heroic Dose — The lack of an alternative hypothesis hardly means the original one is the truth.
“What’s really absurd is that so many people that back Ben Stein cite how brilliant he is, but somehow seem to forget that he is an Economist – not a Biologist, nor a Chemist, nor a Physicist.” — True, but he did talk to Biologists, Chemists, and Physicists who were ousted by the scientific community for even mentioning the phrase “Intelligent Design”. Did you even watch the movie? Do you think the people he interviewed were lying?

  15. superb90 says:

Yeah, like scientists have come up with any definitive evidence to support their ideas without asking people to take a huge leap of faith to think that species evolve into other species.
