I was watching the previews for this movie and it looks really disturbing, especially the part about how the church ordered a massacre. I was wondering if this movie was based on actual events in history. Does anyone know?

It’s based on the Illuminati a.k.a (N)ew (W)orld (O)rder.
It is a novel, and like most of Dan Brown’s fiction, he does reference some historic facts. This time it’s about The Illuminati and he weaves an interesting tale. There is plenty of fact and fiction that surrounds this secret society and has been fodder for conspiracy theorists for many centuries. I think this book will translate to the screen better then The Da Vinci Code. It’s a “clock is ticking” type of plot involving The Illuminati, where something big is happening every hour up until midnight. It should have a “24″ feel about it.
