I backed up some pics and home movies from my old hard drive before reinstalling windows and now i cant get the movies off the disk. As soon as i click and start to drag the movie my computer locks up on me. These are very important to me and i need to find a way to salvage them.

Try copy and paste.
Right click on file (movie), select copy. Then navigate to the location of where you would like to save that file (movie), right click on a clear area within the location and select “paste”.
