How Long Before The Movie Industry Collapses Completely?

With everyone seemingly watching movies downloaded from file sharing sites, I see the movie industry going the way of the music industry- free.
Will future movie productions be limited to home movies of somebody’s dog swimming lengths of the pool, and posted on youtube?
What do you think?

Not a good thing, but people don’t understand the damage that’s done by patronizing pirate/bootleg sites.
Guess they’ll miss it when movies are gone.

I will give it another year at the most. Piracy killed off the Hong Kong movie industry pretty fast, years ago. And with the closure of daily newspapers all over the world, I see a trend that is beginning to speed up.
Since the last movie I watched was not that hot anyway(it was rerun on TV) I guess it was an over rated industry that has come to the end of its usefulness.
And who watches the Oscars anyway?
I think its demise will be a good thing overall.

it’s not that the movie industry will die,it will just evolve. we are starting to see big movie studios focus on smaller budget films. independent studios are on the rise. Lars and the real girl for example, made a ton of money, cost next to nothing to make, filmed in thirty days. Juno, big hit, small budget.
the oscars I can do without. But I need my movies.

If the movie industry collapses completely is not because of people downloading movies for free or something. Is because movies are getting worse. Now is diffcult to watch a good movie because most of them are quite bad.

Too many people still enjoy going to the theaters for the industry to have much trouble. Still one of the best places to go on a date. Just my opinion of course.

may be we will see more advertise or sponsor. May be we might have a superman movie with sponsor logo on his outfit. or rename it a Super Tango Man with Tango logo on his chest…
