How Does The Movie Angels And Demons Compare With The Book?

Is it just as good or did they make too many changes that the story loses something when watching the movie.
I loved the book but don’t want to waste money going to the movies to see it if it’s not worth it. Should I go to the movies or just wait for it to come out on DVD and rent it?
Thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

    hi!
I thought of asking this question myself, as I wanted to know what people thought of it, but I’ll answer yours instead!
I became interested in Dan Brown’s books a while after the Da Vinci Code movie was made, so when I heard they were making a movie of Angels and Demons I was really excited, since I’d liked the first movie.
I realised though, that I’d expected too much! They changed heaps of things from the book to fit into the movie and someone who was supposed to die, doesn’t, just to wrap up the ending, and to not waste space on the character development they’d need to have exactly followed the book.
Like a previous person said, they also got rid of the sort-of bad guy to combine two book characters into one, and also completely got rid of one massive plot twist that make the Camerlengo’s actions seem more plausible.
If you watch the movie without comparing it to the book, it’s quite good. I really enjoyed it at the movies since it’s such a thriller, and so suspenseful (even if you know what’s going to happen)!
I do think you should watch it at the cinema, because it’s good on the big screen, though not what I had anticipated.
    Hope I could help!

they made WAY too many changes…they changed the main bad guy (the original, maximilian kohler, isnt even in the movie!) they changed the camerlengo from italian to irish, the movies starts and plays out differently and the end is different, so it kept maybe 50% of the original story…i was very dissapointed

they changed a lot of things from the book, including the ending. But it was still entertaining and well made, I thought. The book is definitely more detailed, but that’s always how it is. It was better than the Davinci code!

If you have not read the book then i will say the movie is good. But if you’ve already read the book dont bother watching the movie.
