I’ve always been curious about this. Say if I have a story that I think will make for a great movie, how do I make that happen? Who should I contact? I sometimes see different persons’ names under “Screenwriter” and “Story by” in the end credits part of some movies. Is it possible to just be paid for the overall story and not write the script?

You could just Write it yourself, try downloading a script writing package from http://www.celtx.com
alternatively hire a screenwriter and then try selling it to a producer
