How Do I Convert Movies Into A Format For Windows Movie Maker?

My movies are made in a .MOD format from my JVC Everio camcorder. When I push the “Import Video” button on Windows movie maker it says “the file is not a supported file type and it cannot be imported to windows movie maker.” How can I fix this?

    WMM does not support MOD files.
    WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER
    Files associated with Windows Movie Maker
    Audio files: .aif, .aifc, .aiff .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, and .wma
    Picture files: .bmp, .dib, .emf, .gif, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff, and .wmf
    Video files: .asf, .avi, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv
    you might have to convert your files using http://www.handbrake.fr/ this is a free video converter.

    Try converting the file to some usual formats before importing to windows movie maker (.mpg/.avi). Then you can easily use the file in windows movie maker. To convert the file you can use “Total video converter”.
