How Do I Add A Picture To A Movie In Windows Movie Maker Without Interrupting The Audio?

I know how to import pictures, videos and sound. But how do I add the picture to the movie under construction without interfering with the audio? This is for a talk show where I want pictures to fade in and out at different point but need the audio to stay in synch with the video.

    OK, first of all, it’s possible to do it with Windows Movie Maker… but it will take you a bit and the results will not be as good as if you do it with a better program like Adobe Premiere (you can download a free trial from Adobe’s website).
    Now let’s see how to do it on Windows Movie Maker. Let’s do it step by step:
    1) Click on the button “Show Timeline” (just above the storyboard).
    2) Move the main video to the “Video” timeline
    3) Click on the plus (+) sign next to Video
    4) Right click on the audio of the video and select “Mute”
    5) Click on the minus (-) sign next to Video
    6) Move the main video to the “Audio/Music” timeline
    With what you have done above, the video and the audio are independent, now you just need to add the images. To do that, split the video and paste the images.
    VERY IMPORTANT: if you don’t want to have problems of sound not matching the video, the duration of the images on the clip must be the same as the part of video that you cut.
    But, as I said before, I highly encourage you to download the free trial of Adobe Premiere and try it, it will be easier and faster, and the result will be a lot better.
