How Come A Movie Straight Off My Camera Doesn’t Play On Windows Movie Maker?

when I import a video from my camera (it’s mainly meant for pictures but can record videos as well) to windows movie maker it won’t play at all. I’m pretty sure it’s a mpg. file and I’m wondering if I can change it to a Mpeg. without downloading a program off the internet? Or is there another program that I can edit Mpg. clips with that is similar to Windows Movie maker? avoiding risky downloads is my main concern.

Most camera videos are mov or mpg video. But windows movie maker supports wmv video. You have to convert your video to wmv video at first.

If you use a good editing software (not WMM) you will not have to convert the files. I use pinnacle studio ultimate but there are many comparable programs.
You need quicktime to view mpg files. quicktime is free too.
