How Can A Movie That Opens On Christmas Be Nominated For A Golden Globe In 2008?

I am referring to the Curious Case of Benjamin Button movie with Brad Pitt. It has not been released to the public and will only play for 6 days in 2008. How can it be nominated for best movie in 2008? Does it seem like a slight to the movies which were released in 2008 for more than 6 days?

  1. Stephen K Says:

The trick is that it has to be released sometime in early december for Oscar consideration; the rule mat be not as stringent for the Globes

Because they have festivals like Sundance and Cann (?) where people get to preview them before they come out in theaters.
